ZF S6-40 Shifter Options -

Shortened Shifter - (w/lockout) - When Balance and Blueprinting the transmission, less effort is required when shifting. With less effort required, the shortened shifter provides for shorter throws (30% less) while retaining the original shift effort level. The handle is shortened 1.3" above the fulcrum (pivot) point and lengthened 3/8" below. This feature allows for retaining the original reverse lock-out draw-bar setup*. Core charge is applicable.

* draw-bar length is also shortened by 1.3".

Crash Thru Shortened Shifter - For 1995-96 ZF 6-speed or when updating the internal Shift Shaft to a Crash-Thru configuration and Balance and Blueprinting the transmission, removal of the pull-up reverse lock out mechanism will leave the original shifter with an unsightly view of the draw-bar channel. This custom fabricated shifter handle features a polished stainless steel segment which is 1.3" shorter than stock  replacing the old style pull-up draw-bar segment. Core charge is applicable.

Billet/Plus Shifter by Hurst - This shifter handle is designed to reduce the throw approximately 30% for shorter shifts, precisely balancing distance, effort, comfort and control. Constructed of solid billet steel, the feel of this shifter will be significantly more positive when compared to the rubber dampened stock factory unit. This shifter accepts the stock factory knob and boot to keep the interior of your vehicle looking original in appearance. Please note that installing this shifter in 1989-94 models will eliminate the original interactive reverse lockout feature.
